"The word is out..."

A Touch of 'Flare'

'Laura K.' is the name on everyone's lips these days. If not only for her dynamic personality which is impeccably translated in her striking photos, but also for her distinct features which have already caught the eye of the nation's top photographers and magazine editors. Lending her an even more unique look, are her newly lightened brows (courtesy of her Toronto agents at Next Models for her upcoming fashion feature in Flare Magazine). With a lightened honey-coloured mane our rising top model would totally resemble a younger Karen Elson... and we all know how successful she has become!

New York and the Girl

It has barely been a week and our fabulous Anjela is already getting all the attention in New York. The Met's lastest must-see exhibit 'Models As Muse' can wait, because this stunning up-and-comer is sure to be the next 'mannequin du jour' everyone will be talking about. Already, here is some of her latest work in NYC! (Click on the "Models" tab to view Anjela's portfolio.)

CMM is Front and Center for VON ZIPPER's Summer 2009 Ad Campaign

Our leading girl Cassandra Tighe has become one of the newest faces of Von Zipper, Australia's übber stylish go-to brand for the hottest sunglasses and accessories. The brand, best known for its very surfer-friendly gear, has a huge celebrity following and can be found in urban chic shops all over the world. The company has just released a behind the scenes video of their latest promotional campaign which highlights our very own superstar in action once again. Looking toned, healthy and beautiful, this clip of Cassandra is sure to have us all determined to get into shape for more fun in the sun this season!

(For more videos of our models click on "CMM's Top Models in Action" in the menu bar.)

Anjela and 'The City'

It's been a steady road of progress for this statuesque brunette who has just landed in New York. As she steps into the biggest fashion hub this side of the Atlantic, Anjela Chamberlain is proof that determination and hard work can take you very far in this industry (granted God has also helped with your great bone structure and your tall frame). Having done two season's of shows in Canada, this spirited young model is sure to win over many at castings. And this is yet another success story that fills us with pride... (tear).

Canada's Real Next Top Models

The most exciting thing about model scouting is that, at any given time—you can be relaxing over a creamy latte at your favorite market café or simply picking up a few groceries at your super-sized neighborhood grocery store—, a girl or boy with a beautifully striking face could stroll by. Any good agent knows that in that moment of excitement, one mustn't precipitate their actions too suddenly, as they might just as quickly come to realize that the perfect profile which caught their eye is unfortunately not complimented by an overall great figure. Thankfully, you don't always have to stand back for a second before making a move; when you come across girls like Laura K. or Giselle (CMM hottest new faces; Laura (top row), Giselle (bottom row) you should act hastily so that you don't miss your chance. These two girls had us, and a slew of other top Canadian bookers, gasping for air. Thank goodness we know how to play the scouting game, and golly we're darn good at it too!

Sticking with it!                                                          We receive emails constantly from younger girl, as young as 13-16 (or their parents), inquiring about starting a career in modeling. But modeling at such a young age for many is questionable. Sure, there are lots top models out there that are very young (such as new fashion sensations Karlie Kloss-16, Taryn Davidson-17, and Monika Jagaciak-15); these girls have all started at a very young age and, with great maturity and poise, are already handling tremendous early careers success in fashion.

However, for the majority of little woman out there, your teen years can be tricky time to venture into modeling since it's a time of important growth; your body proportions change dramatically over short periods of time, while everyone knows proportions are everything in this business.

So what most agents will do, if their interested enough, is follow a girl's natural growth over the course of a few months (sometimes maybe a few years) to see how they develop. Afterwards, agents will either decide to start working with you as a model, or suggest that modeling is perhaps not your calling.

In the case of Taylor Hines, we've watched her grow for almost two years and CMM is so excited to see her develop into the beautiful, tall, model we always predicted she could become. Once again, patience is key if you really want to succeed in modelling. We look forward to this future star appearing on many many runway! (Photos by Laura Berg)

The Perfect Pair

CoverModels' latest 'it' girls, Nadine & Svenja, brought up the heat this spring in New York, where they not only shot with one of the city's most prominent fashion photographers, Jonathan Leder, but also booked a cosmetic campaign with DEX Makeup. At 5'9, these German beauties are on everyone's lips. We can't wait to see more of their work unfold this side of the border. For more photos of the twins, click on 'Models'.

Welcome to Broadway... street that is

928 Broadway Street is just one of the addresses our top model-to-be Cassandra Tighe has visited this past week in New York city. Nonetheless, the office of VNY Model Management (ranked as one of the Top 10 Editorial agencies in the city) has been the most significant one for Tighe as she signs on with the agency known for carefully hand picking each of its models and being very attentive in ensuring their success. As such, attention and encouragement are exactly what our budding star needs to succeed in the übber competitive modelling industry, as she embarks on the next leg of her mission to supermodel-dom. With her impressive portfolio, it's not surprising we've already gottten nods of approval from some of the industry's most reputable agents. Time can only tell when we'll finally celebrate her fashion spread in Vogue or W magazine.

424 Broadway Stylishly nestled in the eclectic SoHo neighbourhood, this is where Empire Model Management takes care of all its business. This involves meeting with newcomer models like "The Twins", Svenja & Nadine, who are taking their first steps onto a road many aspiring models hope to travel. These two charming girls with porcelain skin and Rapunsel-like manes are forces to be reckoned with; not only will their looks surely have people double-taking, but their passion and commitment to succeed will undoubtedly draw agents to giving them much positive attention.

CMM's Gossip [worthy] Boy

Everywhere Michael L. goes he gets people talking... about how fabulous he is! The word out in the New York Streets is that our latest 'it' boy will one day take over the male model scene. We're not surprise.

From Bank St. to Park Ave. -- Welcome to NYC

As New York Fashion Week finds a new exquisite location for it's shows starting in 2010 (left: photo curtosey of the Lincoln Centre- the shows will be held at the center's Damrosch Park) two of our leading models have found their way to the fashion Mecca to get their big break in this season's Fall/Winter shows. With castings well underway, it seems both newbies, Michael L. and Anjela C. might have a chance at joining fashion elite.

Michael L. He's barely had the time to settle from his stint in London, Michael Lemkhul already on the go again, having caught the eye of the industry's leading agents's. His rugged bad boy looks have put him on option for at least 5 shows, and with numerous shoots already booked, the edgy redhead is sure to become our next "leading boy"! From being scouted as he poured Cappucinos at a local coffee shop in Ottawa, to working the modelling circuit, now that's what I call moving up!

Anjela C. Our darling beauty with the sweetest personality is no stranger to the runway (she took on the runway last season at L'Oréal Fashion Week), however, booking a show at Bryant Park (this infamous location will host its last season this Fall) would be momentous to say the least. Anjela is set to do shows in Montréal, Toronto and possibly New York this season. Watch out Tara Gill, this new Canadian girl might just be the next to steal the limelight!

Jet Set: Cassandra Tighe takes over Australia

Having arrive just over 2 months ago, not only has she been signed with the prestigious Chadwick Model Management  (the country's boutique agency 'de choix') thanks to CoverModels, Cassandra has also landed in the pages of Australia's Harper's Bazaar (shot by famed photographer Pierre Toussaint: see photo below) and Australian's Cosmopolitan Magazine. The world is her stage and this CoverModel success is strutting her way through it!
